Children with alopecia areata and F/H of thyroid disease should be screened for thyroid function

A study reported December 1, 2017 in JAMA Dermatology has recommended that children with alopecia areata and a history of Down syndrome, personal history of atopy, a family history (f/h) of thyroid disease, or clinical findings (goiter) suggestive of potential thyroid dysfunction should be screened for thyroid function.
