More than 40,000 COVID cases registered in India: Health Ministry data on Saturday

India registered 40,953 new COVID-19 cases in one day, representing the highest single-day increase in 111 days, with the national COVID-19 tally standing at 1,15,55,284, as per the Union Health Ministry data updated on Saturday.

With a rise noted for the tenth consecutive day, the active caseload stood at 2,88,394, constituting 2.49% of the total infections. The recovery rate has come down to 96.12%, revealed the data. The country recorded more than one lakh cases in mere three days. Friday saw the addition of 39,726 new cases while 35,871 cases were recorded on Thursday. Number of deaths increased to 1,59,558, with 188 new deaths reported… (The New Indian Express – PTI, March 20, 2021)
