UK is planning COVID-19 vaccinations for children from August

Children in the United Kingdom will likely start receiving a COVID-19 vaccine from August under provisional government plans in order to push for maximum immunity nationwide from the coronavirus, reported The Telegraph.

This timeline would be months earlier than anticipated, stated the newspaper. Officials are awaiting the results from a child vaccine trial being conducted by Oxford University on the vaccine that it has developed along with AstraZeneca Plc, before a final decision on the rollout is taken. According to The Telegraph, safety data from the study of 300 individuals aged 6 to 17 years will be available soon, with conclusions expected in June or July… (Reuters, March 24, 2021)
