India reports its highest COVID-19 deaths in March 2021

On Wednesday, India recorded the highest single-day death count of 354 in 2021, reaching the country’s total coronavirus death count to 1,62,468. The country had reported 355 deaths on 17th December in 2020 and 312 deaths on 28th March 2021. Maharashtra reported for 139 deaths in the last 24 hours, which is followed by 64 deaths in Punjab.

The daily infections are decreasing as 53,480 new cases were detected in the last 24 hours as against 56,211 cases that were reported on the previous day. India’s COVID-19 total count has reached 1,21,49,335, and almost 1,14,34,301 have recovered with the recovery rate of 94.11%. 41,280 people have recovered in the last 24 hours, which is the highest recovery in March. Also, 6.31 crore people are vaccinated till now, with 19.41 lakh being vaccinated in the last 24 hours.

The active caseload has risen to 5,52,566, even though the daily active cases decline to 11,846 against 35,498 cases on Monday and 18,912 cases on Tuesday.

India’s COVID-19 total count has crossed the 20-lakh mark on 7th August, 30 lakhs on 23rd August, 40 lakhs on 5th September and 50 lakhs on 16th September in 2020. The count went past 60 lakhs on 28th September, 70 lakhs on 11th October, 80 lakhs on 29th October, 90 lakhs on 20th November and it surpassed the 1-crore mark on 19th December.

As per the Indian Council of Medical Research, 24,36,72,940 samples were tested till 30th March with 10,22,915 being tested in the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
