After a month of taking the second dose of COVID-19 vaccine, a senior doctor of Sarojini Naidu Medical College in Agra has tested positive for the coronavirus infection. The gynecologist, aged 56 years was administered the second dose of Covishield vaccine on 26th February.

RC Pandey, Chief medical officer (CMO) of Agra said that the senior doctor was suffering from mild fever and her throat swab was sent for RT-PCR testing. The report came positive on Wednesday. One of her close relatives too tested positive for the coronavirus infection. Both are in home isolation and given the required treatment. Also, people who have come in their contact will be tested.

The CMO confirmed that the gynecologist had received the second dose of COVID-19 vaccine in February. Vaccines do not work immediately. They take a few weeks to build immunity in the body after receiving a dose. Also, the action of vaccines depends upon health parameters that differ in every person.

Also, Ashok Mittal, vice-chancellor of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar University tested positive for coronavirus on Sunday, nine days after receiving the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
