Patients Allergic to COVID-19 Vaccine Given Second Dose with Graded Dosing

A graded dosing protocol enabled two patients with hypersensitivity reactions to the first dose of Moderna COVID-19 vaccine to safely receive the second vaccine doses, stated researchers.

One of the patients had an immediate hypersensitivity reaction and was managed on site while the other required emergency department transport. Both the individuals were given divided second doses, reported researchers in Annals of Internal Medicine.

Three to four weeks following the second dose, both patients had IgG antibodies against the spike protein, thus indicating that vaccination was effective with the graded dosing protocol as well. One of them had no reaction to the second dose while the other one developed some non-serious allergic symptoms… (Medpage Today)
