People below 55 given AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine to get different 2nd dose in France

Authorities in France are set to rule that those below 55 who received a first dose of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine can be given a dose from a different producer for their second jab, said the Health Minister Olivier Veran on Friday.

French national health authority HAS had stated last month that the AstraZeneca vaccine should only be given to those 55 and above, on account of reports of potentially fatal blood clots.Officials had previously said that those who have been administered the AstraZeneca vaccine in a first dose should go ahead with the second dose even if aged below 55; however, Veran has now indicated that the HAS would change the advice… (ET Healthworld – AFP, April 10, 2021)
