India registered a new peak with 1,70,195 new COVID-19 infections detected on Sunday. This represents a rise of 11.6% from the previous day’s figure of more than 1.52 lakh cases. 

The fatalities for the day crossed the 900 mark for the first time since October 10. The country recorded 903 deaths on Sunday. India reported over 9.37 lakh cases during the week from April 5-11, representing the highest weekly number recorded since the onset of the pandemic. The tally was 70% higher than that reported over the previous seven days. Deaths also increased by 70% during the week to 5,079.
