Russias Sputnik V has been approved by the subject expert committee (SEC) for Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) in India, and has become the third COVID-19 vaccine to be cleared in the country.

The SEC approved Dr Reddys application for EUA to Sputnik V vaccine. Dr Reddys Laboratories had sought the governments approval for the vaccine to be used in India last week. The Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) collaborated with Dr Reddys in September last year to carry out clinical trials of the vaccine in the country. The Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) had then asked for more data from Dr Reddys Laboratories on the vaccine trial.

Government sources have stated that by end of the third quarter of 2021, the country will get vaccines from five more manufacturers… (ET Healthworld – ANI, April 12, 2021)
