India reported a record daily high in fresh COVID-19 cases with more than 2 lakh infections reported in a single day, as per the Union Health Ministry data updated on Thursday. The active cases in the country crossed the 14-lakh mark.

Overall, 2,00,739 fresh COVID-19 cases were recorded in 24 hours, while the fatalities rose to 1,73,123 as 1,038 daily new deaths were recorded, the highest since October 3. The total tally of COVID-19 cases stood at 1,40,74,564.

With a steady rise for the 36th consecutive day, the active cases in the country increased to 14,71,877, constituting 10.46% of the total infections. The COVID-19 recovery rate in the country has come down to 88.31%... (NDTV, April 15, 2021)
