The district administration has warned doctors who are posted at Sadar Hospital, which is a dedicated COVID Hospital in Ranchi, that their license would be cancelled if they are found negligent towards their duties or if they remain absent without official permission.

Chhavi Ranjan, Ranchi Deputy Commissioner, told the doctors not to force them to take stringent action against them amid the surge in COVID-19 cases in Ranchi. He said this during a meeting that was held with the doctors of Sadar Hospital. The meeting was organized after the district administration observed that most of the doctors were absent in their duty hours.

DC Chhavi Ranjan said that he had called a meeting and told the doctors to do their duties properly and not to force the district administration to take strict action against them. Notices have been already served against them and if they don’t come back to their duties, the district administration will be forced to take action against them.

Ranjan further said that it is a war like situation and we have to face it more strongly than surrendering to it. He asked the doctors to give their 100 percent and help to prevent the coronavirus from spreading further, especially those doctors posted in COVID hospitals.

Many of the attendants who had admitted their patients in Sadar Hospital complained that due to negligence of doctors and delay in getting treatment, they have lost their loved ones.

The harsh reality of the current situation of healthcare services due to the sudden rise in COVID-19 cases came to everyone’s notice on Tuesday, when a patient who was brought from Hazaribagh to Ranchi for treatment had died outside Sadar hospital. The patient waited for the doctors to attend him as his daughter kept on shouting doctor-doctor for helping her father.
