India reported a single-day spike of over 2.17 lakh COVID-19 cases on Friday, taking the country’s total case tally to 1.43 crore. 

One million cases were added to the country’s total tally in record six days, the fastest one million added to the tally since the outbreak. On April 10, Indias cumulative COVID-19 cases were 13,205,926, and increased to 14,291,927 cases on April 16, representing an addition of 1,086,001 cases. There was a record one day spike of 2,17,353 new cases that took the country’s total COVID-19 case tally to 1,42,91,917, and the active cases crossed the 15-lakh mark, reported the Union health ministry on Friday.
