COVID-19 vaccinations will be opened to all individuals in India aged above 18 from May 1, announced the government.

All adults can now receive COVID-19 jabs and states can purchase the doses directly from vaccine-manufacturers in a liberalized and accelerated Phase 3 strategy of COVID-19 vaccination, revealed the government.

The decision was announced after Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a series of meetings over the country’s response to record daily increases in COVID-19 cases. Till now, the government had allowed vaccinations only for healthcare workers, frontline workers and those aged above 45. Now, pricing, procurement, eligibility and administration of vaccines will be flexible in this new round of vaccination drive… (NDTV, April 20, 2021)
