In Kanpur, a case is lodged against a hospital for the lack of facilities and negligence as the Kanpur Chief Medical Officer (CMO) had accompanied the district judge to the hospital for seeking treatment. The district judge tested positive for COVID-19 and went there seeking treatment.
On Wednesday, the judge with the CMO Anil Mishra, went to the Naraina hospital and was shocked to see the disorder and lack of facilities in the hospital. Later, the CMO lodged a complaint with the police and said that he accompanied Judge RP Singh, who was tested positive for coronavirus on Sunday. He further said that they took the elevator to take the judge to an upper floor, but it was stuck for a long time. After they got out from the elevator, Mishra said that no doctors were available to take care of coronavirus patients and there was neither any specialist to attend to the judge. Few caretakers of patients also complained of negligence at the hospital.
The judge immediately directed the CMO to pull up the private medical college and also ordered a legal action against it for medical negligence. The CMO lodged a complaint in Panki police station.
Asim Arun, who is the Kanpur Police Commissioner said that an FIR is registered against Amit Narain, the manager of Naraina Medical College, doctors and staff members. The staff have not been named in the FIR. The case is registered under several sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Epidemic Diseases (Amendment) Ordinance, 2020.
