On Thursday, Dr. Reddys Laboratories said that India will receive Russias Sputnik V COVID-19 vaccine by the end of May. It will arrive later than the expected schedule and this might slow the countrys immunization drive.

Dr. Reddys spokesman said that they are targeting forgetting the first batches imported by Q1, and are also trying their best to procure them by end-May. Sputnik will be available in India in a few months. They expect that the Indian-made vaccine will be available from the 2nd quarter of the financial year. Indias ambassador for Moscow said that last week Sputnik V deliveries to the country were projected to begin in this month.

On Thursday, India recorded the worlds highest daily count of 314,835 new COVID-19 cases. The current ongoing second wave of the coronavirus pandemic has raised new fears about the crumbling health services to manage the situation.
