IMA: Make COVID vaccination affordable, routed through Jan Aushadhi scheme

The India Medical Association (IMA) has requested the Center that the COVID-19 vaccine in the open market should be directed through the Jan Aushadhi scheme in order to make it affordable. The doctors’ body also requested the Government to ensure that the vaccine is provided free to all individuals above 18 years of age in its facilities. 

The IMA, in a statement, said that the cost for mass universal vaccination for individuals aged above 18 years will be much lower than the economic gains that can be attained by bending the curve of the pandemic. The association also requested for transparency in the vaccine pricing… (ET Healthworld – PTI, April 24, 2021)
