India reports record 3.46 lakh new COVID-19 cases

Indias COVID-19 caseload increased to 1.66 crore as the country registered a record 3.46 lakh new cases in the highest-ever daily rise reported by a country globally. 

India also witnessed the deadliest day of the pandemic with 2,624 deaths, taking the death toll to 1.89 lakh. SOS messages are being sent out by hospitals, patients and their family and friends amid a dearth of medical oxygen and hospital beds.

Delhi is the worst-affected city in the country and has been reporting the highest daily surges in cases this month. On Friday, the national capital recorded 348 COVID-related deaths, the highest single-day spike in the death count. The city also registered 24,331 new cases on the day… (NDTV, April 24, 2021)
