Police personnel booked for attacking hospital staff in Prayagraj

Police officials said that on Friday a police inspector and his two relatives were charged with assaulting the staff of Swaroop Rani Nehru Hospital in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. The healthcare workers were beaten as the inspector’s mother, aged 72-year-old died in the hospital during treatment.

Inspector Zulfikar Ali, posted in the Pratapgarh district, and his brothers said that their mother Bad run Nisha died due to medical negligence. The argument heated both the sides and they started filming the incident on mobile phones. The doctors objected to the family for filming inside the ward and the family started to beat them.

The police said that in the preliminary inquiry they found Ali and his relatives were injured. The family has not filed any complaint against the hospital workers.

Following the assault, doctors and the hospital staff staged a protest for seven hours and demanded strict action against the accused and also wanted police security at the hospital. The matter got resolved after the senior administrative along with police officials calmed the protesters and guaranteed them of action against the attackers.

Narendra Prasad, local SHO said that the medical staff have recorded their statements and the investigators are collecting the CCTV footage. No arrest was done yet.
