Indian coronavirus variant identified in Switzerland

The first case of the Indian coronavirus variant has been identified in Switzerland, stated the Federal Office for Public Health (BAG).

The case was found in a passenger who arrived in Switzerland through a transit airport and not directly from India. The test was conducted at the end of March, BAG told Reuters, stating that the person entered Switzerland through a European country. BAG stated that discussions were underway on whether to add India to its list of high-risk countries, from where people must go into quarantine on arrival in Switzerland. Italy has also joined other countries by imposing travel restrictions from India in order to prevent the spread of the variant… (Reuters, April 25, 2021)
