3,286 deaths in 24 hrs take toll to over 2 lakhsin India

The death toll due to COVID-19 has crossed the 2-lakh mark in India as both cases and deaths continue to surge at an alarming rate. 

A total of 3,62,770 new COVID-19 cases and 3,286 deaths were reported in 24 hours, with Tuesday being the seventh day in a row when the country registered more than 3 lakh cases and the eighth straight day when deaths crossed the 2,000 mark.

On the day that broke previous record of cases, 11 states and UTs registered their highest single-day case numbers, which includes Kerala (32,819), West Bengal (16,403), Tamil Nadu (15,830), Gujarat (14,352), Haryana (11,931), Telangana (10,122), Uttarakhand (5,703), Jammu and Kashmir (3,164), Himachal Pradesh (2,157), Puducherry (1,021) and Chandigarh (837).
