The province of Quebec has reported the first death of a patient in Canada from a rare blood clot condition following the administration of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine.

Canada has reported at least five cases of blood clots after administration of the vaccine thus far; however, public health officials state that the benefits of the jab outweigh the potential risks. Canadian health authorities are collecting more information on this case, reported the country’s public health agency.
