Ten states account for more than 78% of new COVID-19 deaths in India

Ten states, including Maharashtra, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, account for 78.53% of the new COVID-19 deaths reported in a day, stated the Union Health Ministry on Wednesday.

There were 3,293 deaths in a span of 24 hours, which is the highest figure in a single day thus far, taking the death toll to 2,01,187. Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, Punjab, and Madhya Pradesh are the others in the list of the 10 states. Maharashtra recorded 895 deaths, followed by Delhi with 381 daily fatalities, Uttar Pradesh with 264, Chhattisgarh with 246, Karnataka with 180, Gujarat with 170, Jharkhand with 131, Rajasthan with 121 and Punjab with 100 deaths.
