Bharat Biotech reduces Covaxin price for states from Rs 600 to Rs 400

A day after Serum Institute of India reduced the price of Covishield vaccine for states, Bharat Biotech announced that it will decrease the cost of its COVID-19 vaccine, Covaxin, by Rs 200.

The company released a statement that said that considering the huge challenges to the public healthcare system, the company has made Covaxin available to state governments at a price of Rs 400 per dose.

The price cut came after Serum Institute of India’s CEO Aadar Poonawalla said that Covishield will be made available to states at Rs 300 instead of Rs 400, mentioning that the decision was a "philanthropic gesture"… (ET Healthworld – Timesofindia.com, April 29, 2021)
