WHO emergency use listing to Moderna COVID-19 vaccine

Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine has been listed by the World Health Organization for emergency use, reported the agency. This vaccine is the fifth to be given the status, which is meant to help countries speed up their own approval of jabs.

A WHO statement said that the aim is to make medicines, vaccines and diagnostics available as quickly as possible to address the emergency situation. The WHO’s Strategic Advisory Group of Experts on Immunization (SAGE) had, in January, recommended Moderna’s vaccine for age groups 18 and above.
