Emergency use approval for baricitinib to treat COVID-19

Generic drugmaker Natco Pharma announced that it has received emergency use approval for baricitinib tablets from the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation.

The company stated that baricitinib in combination with remdesivir is used in the treatment of COVID-19. In November 2020, the US Food and Drug Administration had granted an emergency use authorization for baricitinib in combination with remdesivir for the treatment of suspected or confirmed COVID-19 in hospitalized patients who need supplemental oxygen, invasive mechanical ventilation or extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (Ecmo).
