FIR lodged against four doctors for not joining duty by Dhanbad administration

The Dhanbad district administration has ordered for lodging FIRs against four doctors under Disaster Management Act 2005. This order comes following the refusal to join duty at their places of posting despite repeated notices.

On 26th April, Dhanbad Deputy Commissioner who is also a District Disaster Management chairman Umashankar Singh said that these 4 doctors were instructed to join at Nirsa Primary Health Centre (PHC). They were ordered again to join the PHC on 28th April. But they have not joined till date.

In addition to lodging an FIR, the deputy commissioner has also suggested to the National Medical Commission and Jharkhand Medical Commission to cancel their medical practising license.

The DC has directed Prasant Layak, who is a Dhanbad Circle Officer cum Incident Commander and Vikash Kumar Ray who is a Nirsa block development officer cum Incident Commander to lodge FIR against these 4 doctors under the section 51 B and 56 of Disaster Management Act within 24 hours.

Thus, the order was issued on Monday evening against Dr Mukesh Kumar, Dr MP Saha, Dr Sandip Kumar Kedia and Dr Sunit who are posted at Nirsa Community Health Centrein the district. The Deputy Commissioner said that not joining duty is questioning the service attitude of these doctors. Disaster Management has to be taken seriously and ordered for FIR.

None of the doctors against whom the FIR is registered could be contacted as their mobile phones were switched off. Dr Gopal Das, who is a District Civil Surgeon said that he did not receive any leave application from these four doctors.
