COVID Positivity Rate Over 15% in 24 States in India

Twelve states in India have more than one lakh active COVID-19 cases each, while the figures are 50,000 to one lakh in seven states, stated the Health Ministry.

The positivity rate at present is over 15% in 24 states and 5-15% in 9 states, reported the ministry. Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Chhattisgarh are among the states and union territories that have been showing plateauing or decline in daily new cases. On the contrary, Karnataka, Kerala, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Odisha are among the states that have been reporting an upward trend in daily new cases.

The states have been asked to prioritize the people waiting for the second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, and ensure timely completion of the vaccination schedule… (NDTV – PTI, May 7, 2021)
