Coronavirus disease 2019 can mimic any other acute febrile undifferentiated illness. It is challenging to differentiate them without the use of diagnostics.

There is a scarcity of Report describing coinfections with dengue virus and severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2. A report by Hilmy A.I. et al describes the clinical manifestation and serial laboratory profile, highlighting the atypical findings uncommon in dengue infection.

Case 1- A 39-year old Asian male, with dengue infection presented on day 6 with alarming signs. He was found to be positive for coronavirus 2 on the investigation.

Case 2- A 38-year old Asian male, got hospitalized on day 5 of illness with symptoms of acute respiratory infection by coronavirus 2 infection. he showed progressive leukopenia and thrombocytopenia on serology confirming dengue infection.

Thus the researchers advised Clinicians to be cautious when working on the differential diagnosis of possible tropical diseases in cases of coronavirus disease 2019, specifically, when patients show sign of hemoconcentration, thrombocytopenia, and transaminitis with elevated expression of aspartate higher than alanine transaminase, which indicates dengue infection.

They also advised remaining cautious while administering intravenous fluids to coronavirus disease 2019 patients and dengue coinfection, because coronavirus disease 2019 patients may develop pulmonary edema.
