Coronavirus is known to be a positive-sense RNA with an envelope, having no specific drug for its treatment. It has been studied that Malnutrition and electrolyte imbalance can dysfunctional the immune system thus increasing the risk of infection. It is very important to correctly understand the biological features of this virus to develop diagnostic tests, pharmacological therapies, and vaccines.

Dietary management should be considered to minimize the potential risk of COVID-19 infection which would be specifically valuable in the elderly, impaired wound healing, higher rates of nosocomial infections, and all-cause mortality.

It has been reported that the gastrointestinal form of COVID-19 disease, associated with diarrhoea, can lead to hyponatremia should be treated by water and electrolyte replenishment.Vitamins like A, B, C, D, E, and folate and trace elements like iron, zinc, magnesium, selenium, and copper play important roles in supporting the innate and adaptive immune mechanisms. These nutrients help in keeping and developing physical barriers, generation and function of antimicrobial proteins, differentiation and movement and chemotaxis of innate cells, neutrophils and macrophages phagocytosis, and escape inflammation.

So, these trace elements and electrolytes levels play important role in contributing to the severity of the disease and ultimately the mortality rates. Thus it is suggested to keep these nutrient levels in check and replenish them to return the body to a physiologic condition, shorten hospitalization time, and fasten recovery.
