Bharat Biotech has said that Covaxin works well against the virulent B.1.167 strain of coronavirus, first detected in India and the UK variant of the virus B.1.1.7. 

The study was conducted by the National Institute of Virology and the Indian Council of Medical Research and has been published in Clinical Infectious Diseases. As per the research, Covaxin yielded neutralizing titers against all major emerging variants, stated Bharat Biotech. A modest reduction was noted in neutralization by a factor of 1.95 against the B.1.617 variant compared to the vaccine variant.
