Biden increases world vaccine sharing commitment to 80M doses

U.S. President Joe Biden has said that the U.S. will share an additional 20 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines with the world in the next six weeks as the demand for vaccines declines at home and the disparities in vaccine distribution across the globe have become more evident.

The doses will be made available from the existing production of Pfizer, Moderna or Johnson & Johnson vaccine stocks. This will be the first time that U.S.-controlled doses of vaccines authorized for use in the country will be shared globally. This move is set to enhance the vaccine sharing commitment from the U.S. to 80 million doses… (ET Healthworld – AP, May 18, 2021)
