WHO, UNICEF launch new tools to promote adolescent mental health

The WHO and UNICEF have launched the Helping Adolescents Thrive Toolkit, which guides people working in the health, social services, education and justice sectors on how to implement strategies for the promotion and protection of adolescent mental health.

It outlines the legal foundations that are needed for the success of such programs, the attributes of environments that are favorable to the well-being of adolescents, the support that parents and other caregivers should get, as well as the psychosocial interventions that work.

As part of the Helping Adolescents Thrive initiative, the agencies also released a Comic Book and a Teacher’s Guide that can be used by school-based professionals working closely with adolescents 10-14 years of age, including teachers, counsellors, and mental health professionals… (WHO, May 18, 2021)
