It is well known that standardization of overall nutritional status, including micronutrients, can effectively reducethe incidence of infectious disease. Micronutrient deficiencies could be present in high-risk groups susceptible to COVID-19. In some instances, correction of established micronutrient deficiencies, or in some cases suboptimal status, can support immune response to COVID-19 risk of infection.

Micronutrients have been shown to play a significant role in mediating the inflammatory response, and these effects may be improved by correcting the deficiencies. Correction of micronutrient deficiencies in established COVID 19 infection may support immune response to infection. The AIIMS, ICMR task force, and MoHFW guidelines include multivitamins including Vitamin C and zinc in their treatment protocol. In mild COVID patients with upper respiratory tract symptoms without shortness of breath or hypoxia, multivitamins are included in the treatment regimen.
