Aerosols from COVID-19 infected person can travel up to 10 meters in air

While nasal droplets fall within 2 meters from a COVID-19 infected individual, the aerosols can travel in air up to a distance of 10 meters, said the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser (PSA). It further stated that adequate ventilation can diminish the risk of transmission.

The Office of the PSA, in its advisory Stop the Transmission, Crush the Pandemic--Masks, Distance, Sanitation and Ventilation to prevent the spread of SARS-CoV-2 virus, noted that well-ventilated spaces have an important role to play in diluting the viral load of infected air and assist with reducing the risk of transmission from an infected person. The advisory stated that larger size droplets fall on surfaces or to the ground while smaller aerosol particles travel in the air to greater distances… (ET Healthworld – PTI, May 21, 2021)
