DRDO develops COVID antibody detection kit

A COVID-19 antibody detection kit has been developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) which can yield results within 75 minutes, stated the Defence Ministry.

Named DIPCOVAN, the test kit provides a faster turn-around-time as only 75 minutes are required to conduct the test without any cross reactivity with other diseases, mentioned the ministrys statement.

The statement noted that the kit has a shelf life of 18 months. The kit can identify both spike and nucleocapsid (S&N) proteins of the virus with a sensitivity of 97% and specificity of 99%.

The product is going to be commercially launched in the first week of June… (ET Healthworld – PTI, May 22, 2021)
