The public health institute in Germany has declared Britain and Northern Ireland as a virus variant region, and requires anyone coming to the country from the United Kingdom to quarantine for two weeks upon arrival.

Cases of a coronavirus variant of concern first detected in India have been rising in Britain. A German government source said, “We want to play it safe.
