Half of Indians still do not wear masks: Health Ministry

A new study suggests that around 50% of the people in India do not wear masks, stated the Union Health Ministry on Friday.

Health Ministry Joint Secretary, Lav Agarwal said that according to the study, 50% of the people in the country still do not wear masks, and among those who do wear masks, nearly 64% do not cover their nose properly. Agarwal said, "If one person does not follow physical distancing, then that person can infect 406 persons in a single month." In the study, of 2,000 individuals in 25 cities, 20% of the people have their masks on their chins, 2% have masks on their neck and only 14% wear it correctly, covering nose, mouth, and chin, with a clip on the nose… (HT – ANI, May 21, 2021)
