The SARS-CoV-2 virus responsible for COVID-19 could cause common cold-like coughs and sniffles within the next decade, suggested a new study.

Published in the journal Viruses, the study has predicted this on the basis of mathematical models that include lessons learned from the ongoing pandemic on how the bodys immunity changes over time. Fred Adler, professor of mathematics and biological sciences at the University of Utah in the US, said that over the next decade, COVID-19 severity may dwindle as people collectively develop immunity against the disease.
