The current COVID vaccines provide a high level of protection against hospitalization and death, suggests a summary of the efficacy of eight vaccines, which indicated that the Pfizer-BioNTech shot may be better at stopping at least two concerning variants.

Researchers noted that the efficacy against COVID-linked disease was around 85% following a full course, which increased to around 100% protection against severe disease, hospitalization or death. The researchers compared data obtained from journal articles and media reports for products that have been subjected to double-blinded, placebo-controlled, late-stage vaccine trials, as well as observational studies.
