A study in Italian COVID-19 survivors, presented at the virtual Digestive Disease Week annual meeting, noted that those who had contracted the disease during the early waves in 2020 had a considerable risk of having continued gastrointestinal symptoms long after recovering from the infection, particularly those who developed diarrhea during the acute phase.
