COVID-19 Infection Rate in the U.S. Coming Down Sharply

The United States is registering less than 30,000 COVID-19 cases per day for the first time since June last year while the deaths due to the disease are as low as they were last summer, reported The New York Times.

The test positivity rate in the U.S. has dipped below 3%, and the case rate stands at around 8 infections per 100,000 individuals. Scott Gottlieb, MD, former FDA commissioner, stated that the rate of infection is showing a steep decline and by June, there probably will be one infection per 100,000 people per day. The number of COVID-19 hospitalized patients has also come down to the lowest point in close to a year, stated the newspaper. Deaths average at about 578 per day… (Medscape)
