The central government has stated that there is no indication that children will be severely or more affected in the third wave of COVID-19.

Responding to a question on the impact of the third wave on children at a press conference, AIIMS Director Dr Randeep Guleria said that there appears to be no evidence thus far to indicate that there will be severe infection in children or there will be more cases in children in the third wave of COVID-19 in the country. He stated, "Data from the first and the second wave shows that children are usually protected from COVID and even if they get it, they have mild infection." (ET Healthworld – PTI, May 25, 2021)
