India records lowest daily rise in COVID-19 case count in 45 days

India recorded a daily COVID-19 case count of 1,73,790, the lowest in the past 45 days, taking the total caseload to 2,77,29,247, according to the Union health ministry statistics updated on Saturday.

The daily positivity rate further dropped to 8.36%, continuing to remain below 10% for the 5th consecutive day. The weekly positivity rate came down to 9.84%, according to the health ministry data. Meanwhile, the death toll surged to 3,22,512 with 3,617 deaths reported in a day. The active cases dropped to 22,28,724, constituting 8.04% of the total cases.
