Deaths due to COVID begin to decline for first time in 12 weeks in India

The high death count in the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic in India now seems to be dropping. 

In the week that ended Sunday, deaths across the country came down by 17%, the first fall in nearly 12 weeks, as the daily death count dipped below 3,000 after a span of 34 days.

The second wave seems to be subsiding in all states and Union territories except some states in the northeast and in Ladakh. New COVID-19 cases declined for the third week in a row, with this weeks tally showing the most comprehensive decline thus far. Overall, 12.95 lakh new cases were recorded in the week from May 24-30, with the weekly case count showing a fall of 27% over the previous week... (ET Healthworld – TNN, May 31, 2021)
