On Monday, approximately 3,000 junior doctors went on strikein Madhya Pradesh, barring their COVID-19 duties. They were pressing for their demands, which includes free treatment for themselves and their families if they contract the covid infection.

MP Junior Doctors Association president, Arvind Meena said that their members were refraining from duty at the Out patient Departments, the In-Patient Departments as well as other wards of several healthcare facilities.

He said that if the written orders fulfilling their demands are not released by evening, then they would be forced to withdraw from their COVID-19 duties across the state from 1st June. They have also demanded that beds for junior doctors who were serving coronavirus patients should be reserved in separate areas if they contract the infection. Treatment should be free for these doctors and their family members. They also want a hike in stipend.

He said that their association comprises approximately 3,000 members from the state’s six medical colleges. The junior doctors had earlier gone on a strike on 6th May, but resumed after a few hours as the state government guaranteed that their demands would be met.

Meena claimed and demanded that the government should release a written order about fulfilling their demands.
