Prenatal counseling increases chances of postpartum diabetes screening in women with GDM

Culturally appropriate prenatal counseling on future diabetes risk, nutrition, and exercise increases the probability of postpartum screening for type 2 diabetes in women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). Primiparity and advanced age of the mother were found to be associated with increased screening in a study published online January 3, 2018 in the Journal of Perinatology.
