World Food Safety Day (WFSD) is observed on 7 June to draw attention towards and facilitate action for prevention, detection and management of foodborne risks, contributing to food security, health, economic growth, agriculture, market access, as well as sustainable development.
The theme for the World Food Safety Daythis year is ‘Safe food today for a healthy tomorrow’. It emphasizes that production and consumption of safe food is tied to immediate and long-term benefits for world population, our planet as well as the economy.
Calls to action for WFSD - Governments must make sure that there is safe and nutritious food available for all; Agriculture and food producers must adopt good practices; Business operators must ensure that the food is safe; Consumers must learn about safe and healthy food; Work in collaboration for safe food and good health… (WHO)
