AIIMS chief says no data to state COVID-19 will seriously affect children in subsequent waves

Director of AIIMS Delhi, Dr Randeep Guleria, has stated that there appears to be no data, either from India or abroad, to suggest that children will be seriously impacted in any future wave of COVID-19.

While he was addressing a press conference, Dr Guleria said that this is a misinformation that the upcoming waves of the pandemic willlead to severe illness in children. Dr Guleria added that 60-70% of the children, who contracted the COVID-19 infection and got admitted in hospitals during the second wave in the country, either had co-morbidities or low immunity; healthy children recovered with mild illness without being hospitalized. He also urged people to follow COVID-appropriate behavior… (NDTV – ANI, June 9, 2021)
