A case report published in The American Journal of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene presented a case of a 10-month-old infant with dual severe infection of COVID-19 and dengue fever who was admitted to the hospital with an influenza-like illness.

This child presented with severe conditions of COVID-19 and dengue fever with shock, followed by disseminated intravascular coagulation.

Standard COVID-19 care was provided coupled with fluid resuscitation and blood transfusion. The infant recovered without sequalae.

This case depicted the challenges in isolating a patient with COVID-19 and dengue dual infection. It was suggested that careful in-patient monitoring should be carried out in dengue wards. Additionally, antiviral administration in children with COVID-19 must be planned with caution, in particular, in resource-limited countries.

This article summarized that the management of new probable cases must be improved more thoroughly, especially during dengue peak period in tropical and developing countries.
