Routine monitoring of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) can be postponed for 2-3 months in patients who are otherwise stable.

  • All patients being examined for the diagnosis and management of HCC must be screened for COVID-19.
  • Include ID specialists and pulmonologists in the multidisciplinary team (MDT) for HCC care.
  • Non-surgical treatment strategies are recommended in most cases. Percutaneous ethanol injection (PEI) can be a feasible option in low and middle income countries.
  • Administration of oral tyrosine kinase inhibitors should be done to avoid nosocomial exposures related to receiving infusion regimens.
  • Delaying transplant for resolution of COVID-19 is preferred approach.
